Rock Solid Recrap: Jonathan Sanchez Remains Worse Than Everybody

Reds 7, Rockies 2 (boxscore)

Ready for the world's fastest Recrap?

Here goes.

Jonathan Sanchez's Line: 4 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 84 pitches (48 strikes)

For a split second you had to be amazed Dan O'Dowd found a taker for Jeremy Guthrie that was willing to give up a living being in return (not to mention one that had thrown a no-hitter in MLB). And then we came to the realization that the return was Jonathan Sanchez (the only pitcher in baseball having a worse year than Guthrie).

Surprise! The change of scenery hasn't helped Sanchez one bit so far, and all we can do is sarcastically joke that we miss Guthrie.

Fun times.

Highlight of the Afternoon: The Rockies two runs came on one 1st inning swing. They then curled up and were overpowered for the remaining eight frames, but here's your highlight.

Bonus Highlight: Watch CarGo's diving grab

What's Next: The Reds leave town with their sweep and 10-game winning streak, in come their rivals the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday. The pitching matchup in the opener will feature Jeff Francis (3-2, 4.97) vs. Kyle Lohse (10-2, 2.71).

But you can bet there will be a lot of Rockies talk/analysis before that 6:40 first pitch with the trade deadline approaching on Tuesday afternoon. It's definitely going to be an interesting 48 hours.

Final Thoughts

I have to admit this happened for me in Friday's loss.

There's bad. There's really bad. There really is such a thing as fun bad (Chicago Bears fans that have suffered through Henry Burris and Cade McNown at QB know this). There's rock bottom bad. But the absolute worst is boring and bad. We certainly have reached that point now, and I'm not sure how it'll get better over the next two months.
