Rock Solid Recrap: Four Reasons It Wasn't All Jeff Nelson's Fault

Braves 4, Rockies 3

Reason #1

When your pitching combines to walk 11 batters, your chances of winning that game are significantly hampered.

Reason #2

Dexter Fowler led off the 6th with a single. He quickly stole second and advanced to third on Brian McCann's throwing error...

  • Todd Helton: Strikeout
  • Troy Tulowitzki: Popout
  • Seth Smith: Popout
I'd say that ended up being a BIG run stranded at third.

Reason #3

Jason Heyward is a professional baseball player. Bases loaded walk in the third. Nearly stole a run in the 8th with pure hustle on the basepaths. Two-run game-winning single.

This might seem like a far-fetched thing to say this early, but Jason Heyward might be the reason the Rockies have to win the NL West. There's no doubt the Phillies are winning that division, but I honestly believe Heyward elevates Atlanta into the Wildcard favorites. He's like Tulowitkzi in 2007, he just makes the team that much better. Plus they have the pitching to compete with anyone.

Division games are where the Rockies have to get it done in 2010. I'm telling you that right now.

Reason #4

The play was a lot closer than I originially thought.

Losing Player Person: Jeff Nelson

But I'm still blaming Nelson for the loss.  Ring him up, *******!!!

On to Washington.
