Rock Solid Recap: Everybody Hits!

Rockies 12, Diamondbacks 1

The Rockies made Edwin Jackson pay for not being Dan Haren.

That's pretty much what it comes down to. This lineup was so frustrated last night by Haren that I don't think any pitcher they faced tonight would have stood a chance. Just as any pitcher after the Nolasco gem wouldn't stand a chance either.

Well, maybe Tim Lincecum... or Roy Halladay... or Ubaldo... would have, but not many others.

The point is when this lineup has a rough game this season they always seem to bounce back in a big way. Tonight was no exception.

Winning Player: Carlos Gonzalez

Impossible to pick just one. I go CarGo because he's hit leadoff pretty much since the day he was called up to the Rockies. Tonight he was moved into an RBI position (5th) and what does he do? He drives in five. That is more than worthy of the winning player because that's just awesome that he can fit right into the role so easily.

This kid is a star.

And speaking of stars.

Ubaldo, with his six shutout innings, has establushed a new scoreless innings streak for the Rockies -- 22 1/3.

More importantly than that... he's 5-0, and he was able to save a few bullets with the big lead.  That's a win-win-win type situation.

Eric Young Jr. was terrific in the lead-off role (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R). The kid isn't ready for an everyday big league job just yet (his 9th inning error a big reason why), but it's really exciting to think about what could be if he keeps developing and improving.

One final note on tonight's beauty.

Edwin Jackson entered with a 13.81 ERA in 4 career starts against Colorado. He actually leaves with a 16.29 ERA. It went higher. That's damn near impossible.

Rubber game tomorrow afternoon. You know how I feel about those. Need it bad before a 9 game roadie through California!
