Nationals 5, Rockies 2
Yesterday wasn't. Tonight sure as hell wasn't.
What will it take to get this team clicking? Must the clubhouse manager flip the calandar to June or September and leave it there? I mean what the hell does this team need to play a little bit motivated in April.
I don't get it.
I know they're going to play better eventually. It's just so frustrating watching a team with this much talent seemingly go through the motions like the first 10-20 games don't matter as much as the final 10-20. They do, and you just can't sleepwalk through a game against an improved Washington team. We saw why tonight.
Losing Player: Aaron Cook
Cook looks awful. No command of the sinker. Missing his target by feet on a couple occasions. We're just not used to seeing this from Aaron, and it's definitely concerning. This is the guy who once threw a 78 pitch complete game needing 83 to get through 3 innings tonight.
On the flip side of this, the Rockies bullpen has been awesome. They kept the team in the game on Friday night, did a solid job yesterday in Atlanta, and allowed nothing again tonight in Washington. We'd be at looking some really embarrassing boxscores if not for these guys.
Oh, and I will take my hat off to Craig Stammen. His team needed that from him, he needed that for himself, and he went out and pitched a whale of a game.
That's about all there is to say tonight. Would love to see the team get back to .500 tomorrow night instead of waiting for a big winning streak in June.
